Quinn's Football Game

Talk about perfect timing, we were there during Quinn's first game of the season. It's his second season playing. Yes, they spelled him name wrong on his jersey... GRRRRRR. They won the game. I did a post interview with Quinn on the camera. I'll see if I can get Jay to post it.

On the Road Again!

Since Jay has been traveling so much as of late, Dad flew Kai and I out to spend some time in Mesquite. It would have been way more relaxing for me if I hadn't gotten sick!! I'm still recovering. And Kai seemed to think that getting up every two hours through the night would be fun! But it was worth it. Kai really loved spending time with the fam. He LOVES Johnny and Quinn. I'm glad he gets to spend time with them. We even got to see my aunt Kelly!

I Have Teeth

This is a great shot of Kai's teeth.

Little Drummer Boy

One of the greatest things about having a seven month old baby is that they are entertained by the simplist things. An empty tissue box or a giant spoon works magic!! One of Kai's favorite things lately is to play little drummer boy. My little cutie.

Volleyball Time

They had their first game/scrimage on Friday night. The played the alumni and well... they didn't win. But it was a lot of fun to see Jay in action. He's become officially the assistant coach but unofficially the teams athletic trainer. It's a lot cheaper to pay an assistant coach than a trainer! He loves it though and it's gonna be great for his resume. After the game I even got a shot of Jay working his magic on Jenn's knee. There's a new link in the link section that goes to the home page for the volleyball team. It has Jay's bio/pic and you can keep up thoughout the season with the girls!

Dad and Kai

These two are just too cute!

Trees and Shade

Finally the tempature has dropped a bit and we can enjoy some park time while it's light out! Kai absolutely LOVES trees. So I pick a nice shaddy spot for Kai to stare at the trees and throw sticks for Gus. It's fun time for all.

Kai's point of view.

I Can Sit On My Own

You heard it right folks! Kai has decided that he can sit on his own. He still falls over quite a bit but for the most part he's got it figured out. He's playing with his new dragon toy that Grandpa and Grandma Christensen bought for him.

Mom, I'm tired!

What a little trooper. It was a crazy week for Kai between his surgery, a huge primary event Mom was in charge of, and his grandparents coming to visit. But he's had a few days to recoop and I think his sleeping schedule is just about back to normal! Thank goodness!

Montana Zoo

Grandma and Grandpa Christensen took Kai to the zoo! He had a lot of fun. His favorites were the flower garden, the barn, and the bald eagles. One of the gardeners gave him a flower, it was the first time I have ever seen him stick something in his mouth and then pull it out and keep it out! It was pretty funny. The bald eagles were making a lot of noise so he was curious about that. And he liked standing on the barn doors. I got some good shots of the tiger, that caught Kai's attention for about one minute. Then he was checking out the trees again. He loves the trees.

Pictograph Caves

So we lived here a year and still hadn't seen the pictograph caves. Grandpa and Grandma Christensen came out to visit and we hiked up the hill to see the ancient drawings. Kai passed out, you can tell how excited about it he was!

Farmer's Market

We discovered a great farmers market in Billings! We got some great seedless watermelon, cucumbers, and snow peas! There were some people playing drums, clogging, all sorts of fun stuff.

Mom and Kai sippin' on a strawberry slushy.

Our friends Greg and Megan went with us.

Good stuff!

Six Things I learned Traveling with a Baby

Okay so vacationing as a Mom is whole new ball game! I'm not sure it could always be called a 'vacation' for the mom! Maybe just a trip! You still get to change the diapers, feed the baby, watch the baby, only in a new place that baby doesn't know! Making nap and bed times soooo fun! Here are some gems I learned along the way.

1. Why overpack? Unless you're very exotic with your destination there will probably be a Wal-Mart or some equivliant. If the 'what if the world ends' scenario comes up and you need that extra pack of wipes, diapers, sunscreen, yadda yadda get it there!

2. Fimiliarity is a big thing for a baby! Make sure to take his favorite toy, stuffed animal, blanket, yadda yadda. These things can not be replaced at the local store. I also found taking a pillow on the plane was great. It smelled like the house and as the plane took off, he passed out. Which brings me to number three....

3. Try to book the flight during sleeping times. On the way there we went on the night flight and he passed out in my lap. On the way back we went in the middle of the day and I didn't have any luck getting him to sleep! In fact just the oppisite, a screaming baby!

4. Don't try new foods while in a new area. If there's a reaction to something you don't know if it's the enviroment or the new food. Kai got a bit of a heat rash and I wasn't for sure because I had also introduced oatmeal to him. It ended up being the heat but it would have been nice not to have to wonder about the oatmeal. Makes solving the problem easier.

5. Pack babie's fav toy but don't go overboard with all the toys! It's a new enviroment and Kai wanted to touch and see all the new stuff! Forget his toys from home, they were old news! His favorite new toy for traveling was a plastic spoon! Improvise and it entertains longer!

6. Exspect what you dread most to happen! And when it does, get over it! I was dreading being the person with the screaming baby on the plane that everyone was rolling their eyes at. That was my worst fear for the trip and of course it happened! Oh well, there was nothing I could do and the people just had to live with it! No one died and I'm sure no one is still thinking about it. I'm sure not!

Loved Baby Boy

Jay and I were talking to eachother about how loved on Kai is. I can't think of a more deserving baby so I don't mind at all! But he is a bit spoiled when it comes to being loved on. He pretty much exspects it! But it's nice because he'll love on ya right back! Here are some photos from the vacation of Kai being loved on.

Lake Powell

Okay so here are some shots of being out on the lake. We had so much fun at the lake. Jay got his first sunburn ever! I'm sure that part wasn't so much for him. But the whole week was about either playing or relaxing. Now that's a real vacation!

Dad bought the "Phantom" tube. Actually it was a great buy because it was all the boys wanted to do. And by boys I mean Johnny, Quinn, and Jay! Jay got some good video footage of the tube trying to get air. I'll have him put that on the blog too.

These bucket hats that we got Kai is probably one of our better purchases ever! They were perfect for the lake and so adorable!

Donna had her own bucket hat to match Kai! It was great that Eric and Amy could come out too. We hardly ever get together at the same time. It was a real family vacation!

I had to show off Johnny's GQ moment! He's going into high school next year!! Crazy!

Mom and her sweet pea.

Papa, Dad, and Kai. Papa and Nonnie couldn't get enough of the little one!

Birthday Bash

So we arrived in Mesquite on the 6th at about midnight and got to sleep about an hour later. Our flight was delayed and well... life happened! Poor Jay, I had his birthday festivities starting at 7am with a round of golf at Falcon Ridge! He was a trooper and was surprised by all the friends from Cedar and Mesquite who surprised him when he got there! While he was golfing I took all the wives swimming with the kids at the rec center. Kai did great. Then we had a big BBQ at my parents house. It was soooo much fun to see everyone that we love so much. It's so hard living far away from so many amazing people.

Family Photos

I wanted some good shots of the three of us before Kai got any bigger! So I had a friend go out with us to Lake Elmo park.
